Bringing Campfield’s Vision to Life
Astra Group are proud to announce our contribution to the groundbreaking Campfield development in Manchester, with a special thanks to Allied London for bringing us on to this project. This ambitious project saw the transformation of Upper and Lower Campfield from market halls into a dynamic mega campus for tech and creative industries.
Campfield: A Hub for Innovation and Creativity
Campfield is more than just a workspace; it’s a movement. Spanning 135,000 sq ft, this innovative campus offers flexible workspaces, private offices, creative studios, workshops, meeting rooms and a vibrant hospitality space. After its many changes since opening in 1878, its overall aim is to provide the platform, resources and community for businesses to thrive and create sustainable success.
Astra Group’s Contribution
Our involvement in the Campfield project focused on designing and implementing crucial internal wayfinding signage for both Lower and Upper Campfield, ensuring seamless navigation and reinforcing the campus’s sophisticated visual identity. Our work was meticulously planned and executed across several phases, utilising a variety of materials and techniques to achieve both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
For Lower Campfield, our initial phase concentrated on essential directional and identification signage, primarily utilising printed and plotted vinyl with matt lamination for durability and a clean finish. This included:
- Reception Signage
- Staircore Signs
- Worksuite and Meeting Room Signs
The next phase involved introducing more complex signage, focusing on illuminated and 3D elements. This included:
- Illuminated Reception Lightbox
- Wayfinding Totems
- Bar Stair Sign
- Extensive WC Lobby and Cubicle Signage
- Stair Signs
The Upper Campfield elements involved a range of signage solutions that were designed to complement the specific layout and aesthetic of the space. This meant there was a focus on high-tac matt black and white vinyls for a sleek, modern look:
- Door Overpanels
- Accessible WC and Shower Door Signs
- Manifestations
- Reception Wall Signage
