Easy as ABC…

Allied London – ABC Buildings – External Totem Signs

We were recently commissioned by the award winning UK based property developers and designers, Allied London, to manufacture and install two new illuminated totems to signify the redevelopment of their ABC Buildings.

The ABC buildings, formerly known as Astley, Byrom and Cooper House, were originally designed by architectural practice Leach Rhodes Walker and built in three stages between 1959 to 1965. The recent redevelopment of the ABC Buildings have enhanced a new style for Manchester, to include spaces transformed for modern industry in a modern city.

Astra assisted in the implementation of structural calculations, installation of concrete foundations, manufacture of the signs, and installation.

The signs were manufactured with mild steel frames, complete with internal LED illumination. The bespoke aluminium cladding includes hidden fixing details, and were powder coated black. Complete with flush finish translucent acrylic and matt black vinyl tenant name details, for a premium finish.

The client assisted in providing electrical feeds to the sign locations, and instructed a groundworks contractor to finish the flags around the base of the totems.

Working closely together to ensure the project was completed with minimum disruption to the building occupiers.
